Om Parakash Shourie

Om Parakash Shourie, 91, of Great Falls, Virginia, passed away on April 9 2024 in Reston, Virginia. Om was born in Lahore, India to Tara Wati Sharma and Bishan Dass Shourie on June 15, 1932. He went to school in Lahore & Ambala India. He married Shashi Prabha Sharma on January 31, 1973 in Delhi, India. He attended Sanatan Dharma College, and part of the Indian Air Force, Tel Aviv University, and Cooper Union. He worked as a deep space & Telecom engineer for Bell Labs, Jet Propulsion Lab, NASA, ITT, Embratel, MCI, Intelect, Sprint, Global I, and French Telecom/ Equant for 50 years. He was a veteran and served in the Indian Air Force for 7 years. He was involved in Kabadi or Indian wrestling, swimming, running, and weight lifting. He received the title of Mr. Ambala, Achievement Awards from Sprint, Global One and MCI along with numerous others including Avid Debater. Om is preceded in death by Kusum Ratanpal and Avinash Shourie. Om is survived by his wife, Shashi Shourie, Daughter Kavita Shourie, sisters Sudershan Bhaskar and Tripta Warfield, and Antara Shourie Vissanji and Amartya Shourie Vissanji. The family of Om P.
