

He was 87. He was born on January 19, 1939 in Burlington, Vermont to Philip Dunton Sr and Edna (Church) Dunton. He graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany, NY in 1956 and received a BS in Finance from Siena College in 1960. He then went to receive a MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business in 1961. After NYU, he was commissioned as an officer in the Army Medical Corps, where he served as a hospital administrator. Stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX and Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, CA, he rose to the rank of Captain."
He then was a broker for Merrill Lynch for many years in Washington, DC, where he met his wife, Christine. He finished his career of 27 years as a Senior Loan Officer for the Export-Import Bank of the United States, which required some travel and brought him to 6 of the 7 continents.
Phil loved his Catholic faith and was an active parishioner of St John the Beloved Roman Catholic Church in McLean, VA and was a member of the St Thomas More chapter of the Secular Franciscan Order.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Christine Johnson Dunton, son Pete of McLean, VA, daughter Rebecca Foret (Paul) of Huntersville, NC, three grandchildren, Hannah, Miles and Isabelle, four great-grandchildren Penelope, Wilbur, Edwin and George and sister, Faith Dunton Hedin.
