Raymonde DeBruyne Chavoor, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Arlington, Virginia. Born on October 14, 1933, in Brussels, Belgium, Raymond carried her European roots with her throughout her life. Though she spent most of her adult years in McLean, Virginia, she remained deeply devoted to preserving her Belgian traditions, culture, and language-un art de vivre she cherished and shared with pride.
Raymonde was married for 65 years to her beloved husband, Ashur Chavoor, who preceded her in death. Their life together was marked by love, partnership, and a shared appreciation for family and the wider world. An award-winning artist, Raymonde was known for her creativity, refined eye, and expressive work. She loved to travel, read and spend time with her family. Of all the places she enjoyed, none held a more special place in her heart than Bethany Beach, Delaware. She was also a devoted lover of dogs, whose companionship brought her great joy and comfort throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Claude Chavoor-Pardes; her son-in-law, Stephen Pardes; and her grandsons, Alexander Pardes and Zachary Pardes, who were the great pride and joy of her life.
A service will be held at 10AM at National Funeral Home in Falls Church, Virginia. Raymonde will be remembered for her elegance, creativity, devotion to tradition, and the love she gave so freely - toujours dan nos cœurs
