Dr. Reza Nemazee (71) of Great Falls, Virginia died on January 16, 2021 at Reston Hospital Center. Born in Tehran, Iran in 1949, Reza was the son of Mohammed Hossein and Luz Belen Nemazee. Reza was an amazing husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He received his undergraduate degree from Hobart College, his Masters degree from SUNY-Oswego, and his PhD from Syracuse University. Reza loved his time in upstate New York and passed on his love of all things Syracuse to his two sons.
He met the love of his life, his wife, Noushin, in Tehran, Iran in 1979. They married in the middle of a revolution and left to make a new life for themselves in the United States. After spending time in Richmond, Virginia, Reza and Noushin moved to Vermont where Reza taught at a university and opened his first practice in clinical psychology. His two sons, Shahin and Ali were also born in Vermont. His most precious relationships came later in life when he became the proud grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren (Leela, Reza, Azita, and Sam). In addition to his grandchildren, Reza is survived by his wife of 41 years, Noushin, his sons Shahin and Ali, his daughters-in-law Erin and Margaret (Midge), his wonderful sister, Rowshan, his nephews and nieces Ali-Reza, Khosrow, Kayvan, Ali, Sara, June, Linda, Shayan, Leila, and Shada. Reza also had a very special bond with his brother and sisters-in-law, Shariar, Afarin and Nilou, and his cherished mother-in-law, Mrs. Irandokht Jahanbani (Shams-Molkara). Reza was preceded in death by his father, Mohammed Hossein Nemazee, his mother, Luz Belen Nemazee, and his beloved father-in-law, Akbar Mirza Shams-Molkara.
The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at Reston Hospital Center for their compassion and care. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. John Valenti, and Dr. Thomas LoRusso who provided impeccable, compassionate care to Reza for many years.
We will remember Reza for his humor, kindness and friendship. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and those who knew him will miss him and hold him in their hearts forever. Remembrance service will be held when it is safe for family and friends to gather.

River of Sorrow
by Todd Nigro
Drinking from the waters of sorrow
sustains a different kind of life.
This river is hidden
from the rest of the world.
Tears drip from my chin and fall into
an endless flow of liquid love.
This river sparkles with beauty.
