
Richard “Dick” Kendrick, 79, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2014 in Arlington VA. He was born in Simpsonville, S.C. to the late R.C. and Geraldine Kendrick. Dick graduated from Osborne HS in Marietta GA and graduated from Georgia Tech in 1959.
Dick was commissioned as an officer in the US Army, Ordinance Corps, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1987 after 28 years. He served during the Vietnam conflict as well as other posts in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and duty stations in the US. His final duty assignment was as nuclear surety officer in the Army Nuclear and Chemical Agency. He further served his country supporting the US State Department.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Merilyn Kendrick, and his second wife, Arline Kendrick. He is survived by his son, Chip Kendrick, daughter-in-law Lorinda Kendrick, and his two beloved grandchildren Jillian and Davis of Falls Church, Virginia; his brother Cecil Kendrick; brother Steve Kendrick and sister Delores Brown. His brother Jimmy Kendrick predeceased him.
Burial, with full honors, will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
