

After the war, Bob took advantage of the GI Bill to pursue his love of languages, receiving a BA from Seton Hall University and a MA from Ohio State.
Bob met Franciska, his future wife, while studying in Germany. They were married in 1973 and moved to New Jersey where they lived until 1981. After settling in Northern Virginia in 1983, Bob taught at Bishop O’Connell High School until retiring in 1987. After retiring, Bob was a caregiver for his mother and later his wife.
Bob was an active and dedicated parishioner of St. Philip’s Catholic Church, as well as an energetic volunteer at both the George Mason District Library and the Democratic Party.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bob’s life at Murphy Funeral Home; 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, Virginia 22046 on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 3-5 p.m. (www.murphyfuneralhomes.com) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to a charity of your choice.
