I am a former neighbor and just wanted to say how lovely and helpful Sedge always was to me. He was so bright and sunny and genuine and I thank him for that. I hope his family finds comfort in all the beautiful memories. 

I have no photos or mementos other than fond memories of knowing and "playing" with Sedge through the Metro. Wash. Old-Time Radio Club and the caboose.  It turns out that we shared adjacent birthdays, and my father and he shared Lambda Chi.  Take five, old buddy ...

Dad, I can't believe it's been a year since you left us... I miss you (and mom) everyday and wish you were still here, to talk to ..

I knew Moss briefly at Powhatan.   A group of us sing there.  Moss was always fun to talk to.  He was an enthusiastic singer.   Even  though I knew him so briefly, I'll miss him.  He made an impact.

Sorry to hear of Sedgwick's passing. He was a true friend and I enjoyed talking with him at the WNS Meetings.

Sedge was and will always be a tower of a man.  A man of distinction.  When he spoke, you listened.  He did not shout nor did  he bring attention to himself.  He didn't need to. When you saw him, you knew he was somebody.  A gentleman of quality. 

Sedge, thank you for reaching down to me and for your many acts of friendship and caring.



He was one of the most kind, decent people I've ever known.  I don't think I ever heard Sedge Moss utter a cross word, or heard anyone else report having heard him do so.  How does a person maintain that level of equanimity in times like this?

Even though we haven't chatted in close to five years, I still consider you my friend.  So long, buddy!

I  have truly found Sedge to be one of the  nicest persons that I have ever met.  I am not saying that as a perfunctory comment, but from the deepest part of my heart. He was always a great joy to be around due to his exceptional friendliness, kindness, knowledge, and  a great joy of life.  Over the many years that I have been a MWOTRC member, I have always enjoyed his many introductory Big Band presentations.  I was one of the lucky ones who was a guest of Sedge and Virginia in their welcoming home that the evening  when MWOTRC was cancelled on that snowy, cold night . We listened to a vintage Tom Mix program, then toured the basement and saw many  of his hobbies. On other occasions, Sedge gave me a personal tour of the park where he was a guide as we went into the rail road  car exhibit.  After some meetings, he took me to the nearby library and store fronts to view elaborate displays of his hobbies. This wonderful friend will always be in my heart and memory.

Sedge was normally the one to come and open the door for us early birds at the church hall where we met. Except for one memorable night when it snowed. Several of us were milling around waiting for Sedge and someone finally called him and found out the meeting had been cancelled due to the weather. So we were all invited to his house for a mini meeting. we received a warm welcome by Sedge and his wife and sooner or later we wandered down to the train layout. I think I was allowed to operate it a bit and talk turned to more railroad topics. I wish Sedge had been able to travel up to PA to see the locomotive I work on. I bet his eyes would have lit up like a headlight if he got into the cab and blew the whistle. 

Sedge-- I am so glad I met you and your wonderful wife Virginia!! I will always remember the times you and I had watching model railroad displays, talking about trains, and reminiscing. I will always be grateful for Virginia's wonderful Southern hospitality (and food) when I visited, as well as your smiling welcome. Your sense of humor and wonder were infectious and brought me back to my days growing up in the 1950's when life was a wonder and a joy for a little kid like me. You never lost that wonder and joy. May your reward in Heaven be huge and may you and Virginia Rest in Peace. 

He and his wife were always great neighbors. My condolences and sympathy for the family. I will always remember them and miss them.

The saying goes that you can never step in the same river twice. 
Uncle Sedge was like a firmly rooted tree growing in the river. Every time I returned he was there. He was a fixture, a pillar, and his presence brought joy and comfort.

Uncle Sedge was a wonderful godfather. His love, joy, humor and the time he took to connect is something so precious. As an adult, every time I returned to Trinity he was there. He was such a presence of happiness. I loved how he shared the past with us. He took family photos of us with his antique tripod camera, he let us ride in his antique car, and he took me to hear the barbershop choir. He was like a grandpa to my sisters and I when our real grandpas lived many states away. He came to baptisms and weddings and funerals during the years he shepherded our family. His hugs and caring words and love meant so much!

Uncle Sedge and Aunt Virginia will always hold a special place in my heart! The world has enjoyed and now lost two marvelous people.

May they rejoice together in heaven!

I first met Sedge at Trinity Episcopal Church. As an usher he was the first person to greet me, not just the first time I came to Trinity, but every time I returned. He was so kind and easy to talk to. His friendly demeanor was so welcoming every time I walked in the door.  May God’s peace be with his family. Memories of Sedge will live on in our hearts forever. 

When I first walked into the Metropolitan Washington Old-Time Radio Club, Sedge was the first to welcome me. He was never without an encouraging word, a friendly smile and a giving heart. And, of course, his love of classic big band music was infectious! He was a gentleman and a gentle man. May his soul rest in peace.

Sedge joined the Metropolitan Washington Old Time Radio Club about two decades ago.  He quickly became a vital and cordial member of the club.  Simply put, Sedge loved everyone and everyone loved Sedge. We will all miss him very much.
