Suong N. Nguyen

Mrs. Suong Ngoc Nguyen passed away on February 27, 2012, in Fairfax, VA, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cong V. Tran; her children, Vinh Tran (Bach Yen), Quan Tran, Thuy Tran (Andreas), Thu Tran (David), Thuy Tran (Jarmo), and Dat Tran (Carol); her adoring grandchildren, Tu and Chau Tran, Sebastian and Constantine Waldschmidt, Sandy Katz, Logan and Reilly Tran; and her many extended family members and friends.

Mrs. Nguyen was born on October 20, 1933, in Saigon, Vietnam. In 1975, she and her family fled Vietnam for the United States hours before the fall of Saigon and settled in Columbus, OH, before moving to the Washington, DC area. She was a loving and involved wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Nguyen took great pride and pleasure in raising her children and taking care of her grandchildren. She was exceptional at cooking and gardening, and maintained both activities into her older age. Throughout her life, Mrs. Nguyen also enjoyed travels with her family or friends to many destinations in the Caribbean, North America, Europe, and Asia. Even in her late 70’s, she took trips to New Zealand and Vietnam. Though she is missed by all who know her on this earth, we take comfort in knowing that Mrs. Nguyen is now in a better place for her eternal life. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
