Suzanne Greksouk Kerry of Falls Church, Virginia passed away at age 83 on August 20, 2022. She leaves behind her beloved husband Wayne Haefer and daughter, Liane Kerry of Springfield, Virginia as well as her brothers Gary Greksouk of Ashland, Oregon, and Nicholas Greksouk of Alexandria, Virginia, her step-son Doug Haefer of Collierville, Tennessee, step-daughter Heather Hackett-Wilkes of Cumming, Georgia, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Sue was born to Elaine and John Greksouk (both deceased) on August 3, 1939 in Bremerton, Washington. As a member of a Navy family, Sue lived in many places growing up, including Honolulu, Hawaii and Morocco. While in Morocco, she attended Thomas M. Wilhoite-Kenitra American High School and then moved to Annapolis, Maryland where she graduated from Annapolis Senior High School. Later, she would obtain an MBA from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.
As a young adult, Sue raised her daughter Liane in Vienna, Virginia. She held a position in human resources at the American Film Institute, was Director of Human Resources at AARP and Human Resource Director of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. After retirement, Sue transitioned to teaching for several years at The Cortona Academy in Herndon, Virginia.
Sue met the love of her life, Wayne Haefer, at a birthday party and later they both worked at AARP. They married on June 5, 1989. Sue and Wayne lived in the same townhouse in Falls Church, Virginia throughout their marriage which they most recently shared with their cat, Bud. They enjoyed playing tennis together, traveling to Europe, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. Sue and Wayne also enjoyed going to Fenwick Island in Delaware each summer to enjoy the beach life there and more tennis.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 1:00pm at the National Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia. Sue’s favorite flowers were pink carnations. Donations can be made to Doctor's Without Borders, https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/.
