Nécrologie de Tarquin Arden MacQuarrie
Tarquin Arden MacQuarrie came into this world, stubborn, obstinate, and protesting the whole way, on March 13, 2004 and was immediately welcomed with love. He kept that beautiful stubbornness--a family trait--throughout his life. Ultimately, Tarquin grew into a compassionate, thoughtful, conscientious young man with a strong sense of justice. Tarquin was an avid online gamer, masterful chess player, and had a strong intellectual curiosity, particularly for engineering, history, and public policy--just as long as he didn't need to take a class. He graduated from Falls Church High School and was periodically enrolled at NOVA. He had a quick wit and laughed generously. He enjoyed building custom computers, playing soccer with his friends, and cheering on the Tottenham Hotspur FC in the Premier League. His friends describe him as generous, kind, and thoughtful with a strong moral compass of what was right and wrong. He was simply a good person who was giving and genuinely cared about others. Sadly, his gentle heart could not endure this world. On April 11, 2024, our dearest Tarquin took his own life. He is survived by his parents, Scott and Kerry MacQuarrie and brother Rowan Emmett MacQuarrie (né Kenna Elise); and grandparents Andy Douma (Pake Anne), Elizabeth Wiley (Nana), Janet and Howard Martin (Nana and Grampie), and Doug MacQuarrie (Grampy); and by his Uncle Darcy MacQuarrie and Aunt Masami MacQuarrie and cousins Coco, Miyabi, and Takumi. He is loved fiercely and missed dearly by all. In lieu of flowers, we encourage a donation in Tarquin's memory to the Gifford Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence (https://giffords.org/lawcenter/gun-laws/). A memorial service for Tarquin will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Murphy Funeral Homes, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046.
