Wayne Everett Gallahan was born on December 23rd, 1953, in Arlington, VA. He was rambunctious child who kept his parents on their toes, especially his mother. As an adult, he spent most of his career repairing gas lines for Washington Gas Company. When he wasn’t working for Washington Gas, he always kept himself busy by working on side jobs and home projects, including building a massive addition onto the home on Mosby Hollow Drive in Herndon. He had his father’s nervous energy and had to stay busy, so on the side he cut lawns during the summer, picked up the leaves in the fall, and did various home renovations or remodels for families in the Northern Virginia area.He married Nash and they had their two sons,Ryan and Sean. When he retired from Washington Gas,he purchased 9 acres in Unionville,VA.This land and eventual house became known as ‘the props’ to Sean and his close friends. For years, he would request assistance from Ryan and Sean,as well as help from his brothers and friends,to help build the home he had always dreamed of.The result was a ranch-style home that was equipped with a separate apartment, as well as a 3-car garage, carport and pool.He loved playing cards and was never without a wad of cash in his pocket. There was never a family event that he didn’t want to play. His greatest sources of pride were his boys, grandchildren and the home he built. He stayed in his house until early 2020 when diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and was then moved to The Harbor in Stanardsville,VA.In 2024 he transitioned to Morningside in Fredericksburg, VA.Wayne passed away on January 24th, 2025;he was 71 years old. He is predeceased by his parents, William L. Gallahan and Corrine M. Gallahan and his sister, Leslie R. Gallahan. He is survived by his children, Ryan, Sean, Sean’s wife, Zari, and his grandchildren, Maclen, Isla, Zayd, and Malik. He leaves behind his siblings, Louie, Wesley, Sandy and Paul, as well as many nieces and nephews. Those who knew Wayne closely will remember him for his generosity and love of family. He was a hard worker, local handyman, loved building anything and everything, and enjoying time at the beach. The service will be held on Tuesday, February 4th, at 10:30 AM at Murphy Funeral Home, in Falls Church, VA, followed by his interment at National Funeral Home & National Memorial Park, also located in Falls Church. For those that have the time to stick around afterwards, we are planning a luncheon – more details to follow.
