Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Xuong Phu Ha, has fulfilled his life journey and passed away on January 21st, 2023, around 9:00 PM at home, at the age of 98. Xuong Phu Ha, was born on May 19th, 1925, in Heshan, China. Growing up in hardship with his sister, parents, and grandmother, he immigrated to Vietnam with his mother after his father passed. He was later able to reunite with his dear sister after many years of separation. He met the love of his life, Muoi, and married in 1955, and together raised 5 daughters and a son. After the Vietnam War, in 1978, he escaped with his two oldest children by boat and spent 15 days at sea until they arrived in Hong Kong. Two years later, he was reunited with the rest of his family after immigrating to the United States as a political refugee, and settled in Northern Virginia, where he lived for the next 45 years. His outgoing personality drew him many friends. He was a social person, who loved music, sharing meals with others, and was always smiling and happy. He practiced a healthy lifestyle, while enjoying his favorite snacks of corn chips, potato chips, and peanuts. His hobbies included photography, karaoke, and writing. He loved karaoke so much that he would create CD recordings and pass them out to family and close friends. His writing desk is adorned with treasured family photos. Following vacations, he would journal about the entire trip, detailing places visited and daily activities. He loved to travel, vacationing all across the world, including Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, England, Germany, France, Holland, Australia, and countless other countries. After vacationing in Hawaii with his wife and granddaughters in 2006, he bought his first Hawaiian shirt, which would soon become his favorite style of clothing. He beamed during the holidays, when everyone would gather and, he would celebrate by wearing his favorite Hawaiian shirts. His smile, laughter, and love for life will be remembered by all who loved him and were loved by him. He is predeceased by his sister, Choy Ho, his daughter, Ngan Binh Ha, and his niece, Wai Ying (Amy) Yam. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Muoi Fung Ha; their children, Nu (Son) La, Sara (David) Cung, Allen (Oh Young) Ha, Binh (Khoa) Lieu, and Jessica Stone; grandchildren: David, Bonnie, Adrienne, Emily, Stephanie, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Vivian, Ethan, and Nick; great-grandchildren: Alex, Jonathan, William, and Lucas, as well as his beloved nephew, Wai Hung, and his two great-nephews. Funeral visitation will be held from 10:00am until 12:00pm Saturday, February 4, 2023 at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. Burial service immediately following visitation. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Goddess of Heaven Temple in his honor.
