Barbara A. Mackin

Mackin, Barbara A., 83, longtime resident of Farmingdale passed away October 2, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Clifford. Loving mother of Adrienne Carrion (Riko), Heather Courtney (Paul), and Cynthia Mackin (Christopher). Cherished grandmother of Desiree Buchanan, Shannon Carrion (Katie), Arielle Carrion (Cat), Ryan Courtney, and Tyler Courtney (Christine). Treasured great-grandmother of Lucas, Asher, Campbell, and Theo. Dear sister of Peter Kelly (Denise), Catherine Boylin, and Chris Kelly. Adored aunt of many nieces and nephews. Forever grateful for her aide, Kim Gorman, who took unbelievable care of Barbara and treated her as family. Barbara retired from Lindenhurst High School, where she taught ESL and foreign language. She was a proud member of the Women's Club of Farmingdale and the Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society for many years. She was a quiet woman with a tough exterior, but with a brilliant mind and a huge heart. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and reading. She absolutely loved animals, especially cats. Barbara was resilient although being diagnosed with Polio at a young age, she never let it stop her from achieving anything. The family will receive visitors Sunday, October 6th, 4-8 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass Monday, October 7th, 11 am at St. Kilian RC Church. Interment following at Long Island National Cemetery.
