Mr. Jessie H. Scruggs

JESSIE HARRISON SCRUGGS FAYETTEVILLE – Jessie Harrison Scruggs, 84, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his home. Born on May 8, 1930 at Roanoke, VA he was the son of the late Oakley and Ethel Ayers Scruggs. Mr. Scruggs was a US Army Veteran. He was a lifelong farmer and loved going to equipment auction sales. He also owned a utility contracting business and never met a stranger. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Buelah Scruggs; brothers, William Scruggs, Cecil Scruggs, Richard Scruggs and R.J. Roy Scruggs; one sister, Phyllis Bartlett. Survivors include his brother, Bobby Scruggs; sister, Nadene Truman; step daughter, Shirley Joplin; companion, Virginia Cole; Longtime friend, Ed Bosley; sisters-in-law, Sandra Scruggs, Oleta Scruggs and Ruth Scruggs; many nieces and nephews on the Scruggs and Rice side of the family. Graveside funeral services will be held a 2:30 PM, Friday, May 23, 2014 at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with Pastor Danny Goins and Pastor Mike Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
