Mildred Lois Fitchett

Mildred Lois Fitchett, long-time resident of Fayetteville and a native West Virginian, died peacefully December 22 at the home of her loving sister Jean Ellison. She was 90 years old. Lois lived life with zest. She loved to cook and always dressed with colorful flair. Her warmth and spirit filled every room. A loving mother to her son Jim and a wonderful grandmother to his children, she gave years of fond, joyful and funny memories. Her infectious warmth was shared with all. She will be missed and always remembered. Born in Ansted, WV in 1926 to Beatrice and Earl McClary, Lois graduated from Midland Trail High School and began a career in Washington with the Federal Government. She had an exciting career with the CIA and lived many years in Europe and Asia. Lois retired and returned to Fayette County to care for her mother and settle in her native state. She was active in many local organizations, a proud member of the Red Hat Club, President of the Garden Club and was a fifty-year member of Eastern Star. Lois is survived by her son Jim, his wife Susan, their four children and seven grand-children; her sister Jean, Jean’s daughters Teresa and Betty, along with their children and grandchildren; her treasured nephews, nieces, cousins and many dear and beloved friends. Her sister Ruth and brother Lawrence predeceased her. Visitation will be at the Fayetteville Baptist Church, 104 Ankrom Street, Fayetteville Tuesday, December 27, at 2:00 pm, services at 3:00 followed by refreshments.
