

Virginia (Jenny) Fagan Stone, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a short illness. Born on August 12, 1924 in Vaughan (Nicholas County), WV she was the daughter of the late Clarence Luther Fagan and Flora Elkins Fagan. She was also preceded in death by sisters Frances Lucas and Mildred Toney along with an infant brother Clarence Luther Fagan, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 69 years, John D. Stone; son, Jerry Stone and his wife Susie of Oak Hill; daughter, Karen Lockett and her husband Dean of Indian Land, SC (formerly of Oak Hill); four grandchildren, Gary Stone of McKinney, Texas; Jeremy Stone and his wife Andrea of Beckley, Kimberly Lockett of Ashburn, VA and Kevin Lockett of Charlotte, NC; two great-granddaughters, Savanah and Jessica Stone of Frisco, TX; step great-grandson, Clay Aliff of Beckley; sisters, Janet Roop of Pound, VA, Carol Kelly and her husband Oliver of Buckhannon, WV, and Betty Harvey and her husband Curtis of Jodie, WV; many cherished nieces and nephews; and a favorite little Shih Tzu dog, Buckeye. Virginia was a graduate of Huntington School of Business. She worked for several years as a legal secretary in Huntington and Charleston. After raising her children, she worked for many years as an office assistant for the late Dr. Bernard Collins in Fayetteville and completed her working career as a secretary for the Town Hall of Fayetteville from where she retired. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Since 1955 she had attended the Fayetteville United Methodist Church of which she became a member and for many years sang in the choir. She was a kind, loving lady who always thought of others first and cherished her long-time friends and neighbors. Virginia was a talented seamstress and enjoyed camping and fishing with the family motorhome. Services will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Rev. Clare J. Sulgit officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from noon to the service time of 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
