Norene Henslee, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 16, 2014, with her family by her side. Norene was born in Kiowa, Oklahoma on August 17, 1922, the third of eight children, to parents Henry and Ethel Frank. Norene grew up in Kiowa where she met her first husband, Troy A. Henslee. Norene and Troy married in 1940 and relocated to California in 1941. Troy worked hard to support the family, and Norene worked hard as a homemaker, caring for her husband, their four daughters and her home. Norene and Troy raised each of their four daughters in Ventura County. Their life centered around their children and later, their 10 grandchildren, whom they loved dearly and were a source of great joy to them. Norene and Troy enjoyed 39 years of marriage together until Troy's untimely death in 1979, at the age of 59. A few years after Troy's death, Norene met and married David Byers of Ojai, CA. They remained together for the next 33 years until Norene's death. Norene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Troy A. Henslee, her parents, and each of her seven siblings. Norene is survived by her companion of 33 years, David; her four daughters, Phyllis, Arma, Donna and Sharon; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In her final months, the love and care provided to Norene by her family was much appreciated by her. Especially precious to her was the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the weeks leading up to her death. Norene's family would like to thank Dr. Mikael Hakansson and hospice caregivers, Antonia and Shadey of Buena Vista Hospice Care, who provided loving care to Norene during the final days of her life. "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Rev. 21:4.
