Abram was born on August 22, 1931, in Lublin, Poland, to parents Zelig and Chaja Wassersztrum. After fleeing persecution in Europe, they settled in America where Abram attended New York University and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering in July of 1964.
He worked as a mechanical engineer for his entire career, building machines that ran nuclear submarines and space shuttles, and even machines that went to Mars.
Abram was an active member of his synagogue. He eagerly looked forward to Shabbat with his friends in the congregation, and always felt at home in his Jewish community. He was well known for making the congregation laugh with his funny jokes.
He will be remembered for his strength and resilience, his sense of humor, and his dedication to his “Gorgeous Wife” Fay, as he would always call her.
Abram is survived by his wife, Fay, whom he married in 1965, and remained by his side for 58 years. Together they raised 3 children, Diane, Michael, and Frieda, who gave them 5 grandchildren, Benjamin, Samantha, Sarina, Heather, and Alex.
A funeral service for Abram will be held on Friday, March 3, at 11:00 am at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home & Flagler Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, FL 32136. In lieu of flowers, you can make donations to the Hadassah Youth Aliyah BNAI program http://shorturl.at/lyHPS (Direct my gift to: Youth Aliyah), in memory of Abram Wasserstrom.
