On November 25, 2025, the world lost a remarkable woman, Annie Oxholm. To her husband Hugh, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings and countless friends, Annie was more than family- she was the heart of every home, the embrace that welcomed all, and the smile that reminded us to offer our best.
Born 8/15/1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada to Pauline and Walter Wityshin, Annie grew up with a deep sense of kindness and strength that she carried through her life. She was the cherished sister of Brad Whitford (Margot) and the late Margie Forsythe (Bill, also deceased). Annie met the love her life at the tender age of 16 when Hugh saw her on a park swing and asked her for her name. Although she answered him with a name that belonged to her cousin, Hugh's persistence and determination won out, and he eventually found her again. They married on May 20, 1961 and for 64 years they traveled the globe living in Canada, South Africa and the United States while raising their four children Trevor Oxholm, Lisa Adams (Tom), Tracey Beatty (Dave) and Carl Oxholm (Julie).
She became "Mom" and "Nana" to a family that grew far beyond bloodlines. Her grandchildren Chantelle Jackson (Brian), Laura Souza (Matt), Eric Adams, Tracey Adams, Wesley Adams (Lindsey) Annie Beatty, Matt Beatty (Courtney), Rob Beatty, Scott Oxholm and Haley Oxholm and eleven great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
To know Annie was to love her. She made every house a home and every person feel seen. She and Hugh were not only parents to their children but to so many "adopted" sons and daughters who found comfort in calling them Mom and Dad. Annie could console and inspire, and she was often first to the dance floor- especially when Ipi Tombi played. She was the neighborhood mom wherever she lived greeting everyone with open arms and a hug that melted away doubts or worries. Her pierogies, pumpkin pies and shortbread cookies were some of her coveted delicacies that were always in demand. As a Nana, she was the fiercest supporter and defender of her grandchildren, attending every performance, game and special accomplishments with beaming pride, while also providing occasional alibis and staunch defense proclamations when necessary.
A celebration of Annie's life will be held on January 17th, 2026, at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach, Florida 32136. More information can be found at CraigFlaglerPalms.com. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring Annies's memory, sharing stories, and celebrating the love she gave so freely.
