Carl was born on March 27, 1938, at home in Garwood, NJ, to Nazzereno and Margaret (DeMarco) Alimonti. He was a man of many passions and pursuits, but his love for reptiles defined much of his early life. After graduating from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School, Carl pursued his passion by working as a reptile keeper at the Staten Island Zoo.
In his personal life, Carl built a beautiful family. He married Irene Kubicka and together they had two children, Adam and Lisa. Later, he met Christine, with whom he blended families, becoming a father to her two children, Erik and Eva. Together, they embraced the joys of family life, finding solace in camping, fishing, and antiquing.
Carl dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Staten Island Zoo, retiring in 1992. Post-retirement, he settled in Stamford, New York, where he continued to pursue his passions. He and Christine shared a deep interest in reptiles and antique bottles, traveling extensively to indulge their hobbies. They were active members of various antique bottle clubs, including FOHBC, The Capital Regional Antique Bottle Club, Suncoast Bottle Club, Deland Bottle Club and The National Bottle Museum where they forged lasting friendships within these communities.
For the past two decades, Carl and Christine embraced the lifestyle of "snowbirds," spending winters in Flagler Beach, FL, where Carl enjoyed the serenity of surf fishing.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Nazzereno and Margaret, and his three brothers, Angelo, Joseph, and Benniey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christine (Strom); his devoted children, Adam Alimonti (Valerie) of East Brunswick, NJ, Lisa Dziak Alimonti of Woodbridge, NJ, Erik Strom (Krystle) of Land O’ Lakes, and Eva Reitter (Joseph) of Fishkill, NY; his brother-in-law, Rolf Strom (Sanja) of Glendora, CA; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Carl's passion for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved and in the memories he created.
