Cecil George Gopie of Palm Coast, Florida passed away at the age of 85 on May 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 7, 1936 in Kingston, Jamaica West Indies to the late Raamdass and Louise (Lulu) Gopie (Suckhi). In 1968 he married the love of his life Joyce Parker and together they raised their three children. In his 30’s Cecil moved to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York. He worked as a Maitre D in the Doral Hotel for many years, then eventually retiring from patient care services with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In 2007 he moved to sunny Florida. Cecil enjoyed reading the bible with his wife and attending Calvary Christian Center in Ormond Beach. He will always be remembered for his friendly out-going personality greeting everyone he encountered with a big smile and hearty handshake. He was preceded in death by his brother Goody. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce; children, Kirk, Wayne and Deshawn; grandchildren, Darius, Blake, Triniti and Malaysia, and many other relatives and friends. Donations in his memory may be made to Calvary Christian Center.
