

Alvin “David” Jacobs, 71, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on July 25, 2022. David was born on March 23, 1951, in Hopewell, Virginia to the late Alvin Aaron and Florine Temple Jacobs. He graduated from Hopewell High School in 1969 and went on to enlist and serve six years in the United States Air Force and Reserves. While in the Air Force, he was honored to have served as a Loadmaster on the C-5A Galaxy during the Vietnam War.
In April of 1975, David married the love of his life Sandra Jo Martin. Together, they enjoyed serving the Lord in various ministries, camping, bowling, and hiking the woods in Maine. They raised three children that he is very proud of, never missing sporting events, school activities, piano recitals, summer camps or anything the children were involved in.
During his time living in Virginia, he worked for Hopewell Fire Department and then for the Federal Correctional Institution in Petersburg, VA. His love for God led him to dedicate his life to serving the Lord. From 1978-1982, he attended Atlantic Baptist Bible College in Chester, Virginia, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Theology. David served in several ministries from 1982-2016 in Maine, Connecticut, Virginia and finally in Florida where he planted Bible Baptist Church of Palm Coast. During his pastoral time in Palm Coast, he also worked as a substitute teacher for Flagler Schools, served as a chaplain for the Ormond Beach Police Department and taught ‘Basic Corrections’ at Daytona Beach Community College.
David enjoyed all sports that involve his five grandchildren, including baseball, volleyball, gymnastics, golf and soccer. He loved watching football and had a special spot in his heart for Virginia Tech Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
David will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife, the joy he found in his children and grandkids, his pastoral heart, loving his country and his giving nature.
David is survived by his wife, Sandra Jacobs; his son Jonathan Jacobs, his wife Jennifer and their two children, Dylan and Madison; his daughter Rebekah Lafferty, her husband Sean and their three children, Aidan, Liam and Kaitlyn; his daughter Shannon Jacobs, her significant other Clint Cowan; his brother Gary Jacobs, his wife Karen; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews; and church family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his father and mother, Alvin and Florine Jacobs, and his sister, Janice Michelle Jacobs.
A church visitation for David will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Central Baptist Palm Coast, 5830 State Road #100, Palm Coast, Florida 32164. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 5830 State Road #100, Palm Coast, Florida 32164. An interment with military honors will occur Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, Florida 32754.
