

Dorothy was born on November 24, 1935 in Somerville, New Jersey. She was the 11th child born to Thomas and Johanna Heitz. She was the last surviving child of their family. Dorothy graduated from Somerville High School, class of 1954. She married Robert, raised their five children, while living in New Jersey.
Dorothy volunteered over the years in several organizations, including serving as President of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Bernards Catholic Church, CYO Cheerleading Coach and Girl Scout Leader.
Fond memories were made during family vacations in Beach Haven, New Jersey boating, fishing, and relaxing at the beach.
In 1978 she moved to Palm Coast, Florida. New memories began taking many trips to Disney with her grandchildren. Dorothy worked at Wadsworth Building Components as a Bookkeeper and held the office of Secretary-Treasurer for 19 years, retiring in 1997.
Her life was centered around her family. Her time was devoted to her husband and children, always providing new opportunities for bringing everyone together. Daily dinners around the table, and holiday feasts gave her pride and joy. She gathered her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren on Christmas Eve the last several years, which provided lasting memories for everyone.
Her hobbies were needlepoint, crocheting, gardening, cooking, and puzzles. She loved siting at the table playing cards and games with her family. She was an avid reader and was very proud of her home library consisting of thousands of books from her favorite authors.
Dorothy was a feisty, strong woman who could accomplish whatever she put her mind to throughout her lifetime. She was proud to be able to text and share pictures from her iPhone to stay in touch with her large family. Her latest love was watching Netflix, providing her with hours of enjoyment every evening.
She was a great listener and comfort to her children, providing knowledgeable advice when solicited. She lived a long, healthy life, and will be sadly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. in 1999 and her son, Robert C. in 2019, who is survived by his wife, Cindy. Dorothy is cherished in memory by her four daughters, Patricia (Fiorino), Louanne (Vardakas), Susan (DiBetta) and Eva (Wolken) and her 16 beloved grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
In her memory, donations graciously accepted to her favorite charities: St. Jude’s Children Foundation or any Veterans Association of your choice.
