Betty was a kind and generous aunty to me and my brother David. She was a treasured sister to our dad, John Pedlar, who was influenced by Betty's enthusiastic Christian faith. Betty was also a kind friend to our mum.

Betty took a keen interest in our family in Wokingham. I remember her visiting us in 1966. She used to write to me and David, and would send us gifts and commemorative stamps from the USA. I particularly remember the stamps she sent us commemorating the Apollo moon landings in summer 1969. Overall, Betty was generous in supporting our education and development, both as children and adults. 

Betty was a brilliant writer. In July 2012 she wrote a moving and detailed account of her memories of her brother John, including childhood memories of their life in the Lake District during the war.

Although my meetings with Betty in recent years were relatively few, I will remember her for her strong  and positive influence on the Pedlar family, for her generosity towards us as children and adults, and for her influence on our dad, her loving and admiring younger brother.

  Our friendship began in 1955, when Betty was a young blonde, blue-eyed nurse and I a poison ivy covered 8-year-old.
  There was nothing artificial in Betty's love for God, people, animals and nature.  She regularly rescued cast-off characters.  That once included a big scary snapping turtle from a shopping cart headed to someone's cook pot.
 As her nursing classmates noted:  When Betty got a bee in her bonnet, there's no stopping her!
  During WW II, our friend survived the Blitzkrieg of England.  She later served as a mid-wife in remote Labrador, where small aircraft and dog sleds were a mode of transportation.
  While working at an asylum, Betty met and married Dr. Marian Zawirski.  A Polish Cavalry officer, Doc had spent 5 years as a P.O.W.
  The couple eventually moved to Cumberland RI, where they set up their medical practice.
  Nature lovers, Betty and Doc planted pine trees to hide the busy intersection where they lived and worked.  Their acreage on Waterman Reservoir provided the couple with frequent respite.
  Each made trips back to their homelands. I joined Betty on one for a Yorkshire retreat and family reunions.
  Just as we missed their physical presence when they moved to Florida, we know that we will see Betty and Doc in the Kingdom where there will be no more goodbyes.

Ms. Betty was such a spiritual, and loving person. She told me the first day of  caring for her in her home that I was her Angel and little that she knew she was mine. We would pray together for my entire family it became a routine of ours. She was my NaNa!! She would tell everyone I was her Granddaughter and she was my NaNa. We shared many memories, prayers, and love 💗 She will alway and forever be NaNa and she promised to watch our us…💗she is my Angel forever… love Corinthia & Steven Gray, kevonte, Ki’yona, Kano, and Christasia

The Bible tells us in mark 10:29-30 that if we leave our house brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property for My sake and for the sake of the Good News you will receive a hundred times as much now in this time. I did that and God kept His word! Betty began calling me daughter so I began calling her Ma. We met in 1997 at  church and stayed connected to the day she went home. When Ma's eye sight forced her to stop driving I became her eyes and wheels as did many others. Ma and I would listen to videos on my phone that kept us current on what was going on in the arena of life. We'd share stories about our past laughing at each other's shenanigans. Ma started writing poems about me so I decided to write one about her. Ma, the person. Her name is Betty but I call her Ma. She lives nearby now but once dwelled afar. Feisty is she who lived by the sea. Her eyes are dim but you would never guess as they are beautiful blue and not a mess. Many visitors come in a single day. Short visits long visits however long they stay. She delights in her company gives them a rest. Offers them her ear, good and a place in her nest. I love being with ma she brightens my day. We tell each other stories and laugh away. She's 94 now and her gait is slowing nevertheless she keeps on going. Her love for LORD a prayer warrior is she giving her love to those in need. She sings like a bird should have been a star but her audience of two appreciate Ma. She loves that Don't Worry Be Happy jingle. Loves it when I whistle it to her gives her joy. She hopes I will whistle it to her when it's time for her to go. I love you Ma how can I say no! You have touched my life and I so appreciate you. Enjoy your adventure and keep your eyes blue. End. When Ma was making her transition into her next chapter I went over to her and hummed to her Don't Worry Be Happy. A rustle came over her and then she continued on. I kept my promise to Ma. We will miss Ms. Betty. She was such a huge blessing to us as missionaries to Ghana. We appreciated all her prayers, love, and support. We look forward in seeing her again in heaven!!

Betty Ziewerski (that was her last name then) was the first person who struck up a conversation with me when my husband and I first moved from Ohio to The Hammock in April of 1990.  Upon their retirement, Betty and Doc lived in Sea Colony where we rented a house while our new home was being built on the next street south.  We became close friends and regularly attended and served at nearby Church On The Rock.  Betty had been Doc's nurse throughout his practice and her caregiver's heart afforded her many friends.  She made everyone feel as though they were her best friend.  What I found especially remarkable about Betty was her God-given ability to remember details about everyone.  Because her deep love for people was genuine, the next time she met up with someone, she would inquire with extreme accuracy about the outcome of the last discussion she'd had with them.  Betty served The Lord in many ways, but most outstanding was her compassion that made a positive difference in the lives of those she encountered.  Right up until the last days of her long and productive life, she made a tremendous impact in furthering God's Kingdom.  I shall never forget her.  I know this because much of whom I am was formed by the influence of my dear friend Betty Ziewerski Robinson.

Betty was the spritial backbone of our fmaily.  After my mother, Patricia E. A. Clark passed (Betty's cousin) Betty was our "go to" person for advise and guidance. Her question to us was WWJD (What would Jesus do?)  When she and I got together, time flew and we usually ended up laughing. She loved living by the beach and walking Buddy there. She touched many lives and will be remembered by many.

My dearest & most wonderful friend, my Nana Betty. I didn't have a Grandmother & she didn't have any grandchildren so she would love for me to call her Nana. I meet Betty about the time I moved to FL. A friend took me to a Bible study at her condo in about 2011 & I just fell in love with her & her love of God, animals & people!! I love animals very much too! We began our own Bible study every Wednesday and she explained everything to me & pronounced every tough name or land in the Bible. I'm very honored to have known & been dear friends with such a beautiful & wonderful woman. My mother also was very close to Betty. Betty called her Joanie, her name is Joan, and the only other person that called my mom by that name was her mother who went to the Lord when my mother was only 14 years old. Betty's nickname for me was Jenny Wren because that's what they called wren's in England.  Thank you my dear, sweet, precious friend for being my Spiritual Advisor. I will hold a very special part in my heart for you, my Nana Betty.

Miss Betty was a wonderful woman, a faithful servant of Our Lord. She was full of joy and wisdom and was an inspiration to us all.

I will always remember Betty for her love, her compassion and her wonderful mind. She was close to my grandmother Dee, in age, voice and warmth of character, so after we lost Dee in 2013, it was lovely to hear Betty's familiar voice and similar nature down the line from America. I know it was a lovely connection for my mum, Debby, to have after losing her mother. Betty spent her life caring for, praying for and helping others, both human and animals. She always wrote to me, remembering my brithday every year and all details of my life, and telling me I was in her prayers every day. I am grateful for this love and protection. Betty loved animals and this is something we share, she was very interested when I gave up my job as a Psychotherapist and set up a dog walking business. I think we might have been quite similar. I will think of her fondly as I look into dog's faces every day! I will try and continue her example of helping people and animals for the rest of my life. Thank you, dear Betty. You are loved. Betty often told me the story of how, as a young nurse in London in 1945, after doing a long shift at the hospital, she travelled a considerable distance to visit her beloved sister Dee, who had just given birth to her first child, myself. 

She has always been a loving presence in my life, visiting me at boarding school in England, and later at my home in Oxfordshire, and sending many gifts and dollars. She financed my visit to stay with her in Rhode Island in my early twenties, as she did also for her nephews, and showed me New York, Washington and even Montreal.

In recent years we have phoned each other regularly and she always remembers all the details of mine and my family's lives and was eager to hear the latest events, even in our last call in November. 

I have always admired her conisderable intellect, her strength and her commitment to her beliefs, and I have been grateful for her live and affection. I will miss her greatly.

Betty was my family doctor’s nurse when I was young. I would call her Mrs.Z.  She knew my family - my wonderful  dad,  my mom stricken with MS, and my disabled brother. She had such compassion for me. She left tracks on a table in the doctor’s waiting room and that is how I came to the Lord. She was just so  sweet a person.  She couldn’t have children, so  I would bring mine over when I grow up and had a family of my own. I even mailed photos of my grandchildren for her to put on her wall in Florida. I was sad when she left Rhode Island.  She was my prayer warrior, faithful friend, and like a mother to me for many decades. I am happy for her being with our Lord but so sad for me not having her here. The last time we spoke was this November 23. She told me that I didn’t need her anymore. I guess she was telling me goodbye. She sounded so good that day. Well I will try to prove you right!  Good bye my dear, dear friend .  If anyone know the story of how her  and Dr. Zawerski met, I would love to hear. Ms Marleen has my number.
