Hyacinth Rose McGhie, 80, died Monday July 30, 2018 at Good Sam’s Assisted Living Residence after her long battle with dementia. She leaves behind 6 children Hamlet, Trevor , Sandra, Teina, Coldit, Andria 2 living siblings Ferdinand and Ivan, as well as 12 grandchildren. Born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies, the daughter of Ellen and Robert McGhie, Rose spent the first part of her adult life married and raising her children. Later she worked for 30 years at Long Island Jewish Hospital in Long Island, New York.
While raising children, she often cooked large meals and invited those in need after church to her home. She volunteered at her children’s schools, the community clinic and sang in her church choir.
She loved to dance and entertain so much she hosted parties in her home providing a safe and fun environment for friends and neighbors to get to know each other. Her contagious laughter and caring spirit will be missed.
