March 10, 1958 – August 31, 2024
Jimmy Humphrey, 66, of Flagler Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. Born in Trenton, Michigan, Jimmy’s family moved to Florida during his childhood, where he grew up and made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A proud Veteran of the United States Navy, Jimmy served aboard the USS Saratoga, where he demonstrated the loyalty, dedication, and hard work that would define his life. After his service, he built a successful career in the insurance industry, where he and his wife, Janice Humphrey (née Willis), worked side by side. Together, they successfully built and sold multiple offices, a testament to their partnership in both life and business. His work ethic was matched only by his devotion to his family, whom he cherished deeply.
Jimmy was married to the love of his life, Janice, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. He was a proud father to his two daughters, Jamie (partner Abhilash Trehan) and Jennifer (husband Sean Palmer), and a doting grandfather to his three grandchildren: Magnolia Jane Palmer, Willow Adelaide Palmer, and Ashton Robert Palmer.
A man of many passions, Jimmy was an avid Florida Gator fan, cheering with unbridled enthusiasm for his beloved team every football season. Weekends with Jimmy in the fall were sacred, spent in front of the TV or, when lucky, in The Swamp, wearing his Gator blue and orange with pride. He also faithfully supported the Jacksonville Jaguars, standing by his team through every high and low, always believing that the next game could be the one to turn it all around.
He is preceded in passing by his brothers Bob, Kevin, Jerry, and Johnny, as well as his sister Kristie. He is survived by his sisters Bonnie Gail and Betty Kay, and his brother Keith.
After retiring from his insurance career, Jimmy couldn’t stay idle for long. He enjoyed part-time work at Florida Workshop and later contributed his expertise to his son-in-law’s architecture firm. Jimmy had a deep love for music, playing his guitar every day and finding joy in simple, beautiful moments.
Jimmy’s legacy is one of unwavering loyalty, hard work, and deep love for his family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Jimmy’s guitar may be silent, but the memories of his jam sessions will echo in our hearts forever.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home on September 8th. Family and friends 10-11 AM, where services will be at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Flagler Memorial Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Freedom Sings USA (www.freedomsingsusa.org) in Jimmy’s memory.
