John was born in Gardiner, Maine on September 23, 1936, to Verne and Judith (Pratt) Fuller. John loved all sports, but his favorite was football. In 1954, he graduated from Gardiner Area High School, where he was the team captain of the Gardiner Tigers football team and played as an offensive tackle.
He completed a distinguished twenty-year career in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He served as team leader of the Black Sea Scuba Club Rescue and Recovery unit in Istanbul, Turkey, and held positions with Lockheed in Saudi Arabia and Boeing in Iran during the reign of the Shah.
John didn’t sweat the small stuff in life. He enjoyed the simple things like watching football, gardening, and tinkering in his garage. He was known for his happy, yet tough personality and meant the world to everyone who knew him for his kindness, selflessness, and strong moral character.
John was pre-deceased by his father Verne Fuller, mother Judith Pratt, and sister Shirley Fuller. He leaves behind his wife Beatrice Fuller; brothers Verne Fuller and Paul Fuller; children Jacqueline M. Richardson and Michelle M. Fuller; grandchildren Vanard Richardson Jr., Coaleena Simmons, Fe’la Dalton, Reno Richardson, and Gabriella M. Dorado; and stepchildren Debbie King-Johnson, Pamela Hall, and Roger Pottle.
At John's request, there will not be a memorial service. A graveside burial service will take place this spring at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner, Maine. Relatives and friends will be notified.
