Jose Jacinto Costa

Jose Jacinto Costa, age 99, of Palm Coast, Florida, peacefully passed away on January 23, 2024, at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. He was born on April 27, 1924, in St. Michael, Azores, to the late Manoel Jacinto and Hortencia Pacheco da Costa.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Jose dedicated his life to hard work and providing for his family. In a testament to his enduring love, he married the love of his life, Almerinda da Costa, and together, they raised five children.

In April of 1966, at the age of 42, with four young children and his pregnant wife, Jose embarked on a journey to the United States of America in search of better opportunities. They settled in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where they welcomed their youngest son. For over 20 years, Jose worked for a boating company, crafting fiberglass boats.

In 2003, Jose and Almerinda joined their youngest son and made their home in the warm embrace of Palm Coast, Florida. In this new chapter of their lives, Jose cultivated a thriving garden, showcasing his passion for gardening and raising various vegetables and fruit trees.

To honor Jose's memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, where he spent his final moments.

Jose was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Almerinda da Costa, in 2017. He is survived by his children: Olga Pacheco, Deborah and her husband Eduardo Borges, Alice and her husband Luis Carvalho, Tercio and his wife Berni Costa, and Paul Da Costa. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Kenneth Pacheco, Kelly De Aquino, Erica Borges, Eric Borges, Jennifer Gago, Gary Carvalho, Stacy Carvalho, Lindsey Costa, and Corey Costa. Additionally, Jose leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of loving relatives, wonderful friends, and church family.

Jose Jacinto Costa will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his skilled craftsmanship, and the warmth he brought to the lives of all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

A viewing for Jose will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
