Joe graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1966 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy for a brief time before being honorably discharged due to medical reasons. He then attended college before embarking on a career as a clerk at the U.S. Stock Exchange, where he worked for several years. It was there that he met the love of his life, Louise Ammirabile. They married on June 14, 1975, and together they raised their two sons in Brooklyn.
Joe later worked at The GAP for 15 years before retiring and relocating to Palm Coast, Florida, in September 2018. A passionate sports fan, Joe cheered for the NY Yankees and NY Knicks. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed staying active. As Parkinson's disease slowly took its toll on him, he transitioned to solving crossword puzzles and watching TV, which brought him comfort.
Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joseph L. Maione, who passed away in February 2014, and his teenage brother, Robert Maione, who passed away in 1972. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Louise; son, Craig; brother, Louis (Diane) Maione; niece, Cathy (Brian) Shaw and their sons, Aiden & Julian; nephew, Louis Maione; and many other dear relatives and friends.
A donation in Joe’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
