Joyce was born on March 13, 1940, in Panama, the beloved daughter of Barton and Catalina (Greenidge) Niles. In the early 1960s, she immigrated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York, where she built a successful career with Merrill Lynch, dedicating many years of service to the firm.
In 1990, Joyce retired from the corporate world and relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, where she embraced a new chapter of life as a real estate agent and quickly became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Palm Coast, where her faith and fellowship were important parts of her life.
Joyce found joy in simple pleasures—bowling, playing golf, and enjoying lively games of Po-Ke-no with family and friends. She was also an enthusiastic Jacksonville Jaguars fan. Above all, Joyce cherished time spent with her family, creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and love.
She is survived by her two sons, Emilio Thorpe and David Thorpe; daughter-in-law Dionne Thorpe; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her brother, Roberto Niles (wife Eledia Niles); and her sister, Felicia Niles.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney Thorpe.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Palm Coast. Interment will follow at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
