It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn Leary (Murphy) of Palm Coast, Florida on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Kathryn was born August 7, 1944 in Danbury, Connecticut to the late Robert and Eileen Murphy (McNamara).
After marrying Robert Leary of Ridgefield, Connecticut, the two relocated to Southbury, Connecticut. Although they loved their home nestled in the woods, they fell in love with the idyllic charm of the seaside and moved to Narragansett, Rhode Island. While there, they raised their children, fostering a love of New England life. They hosted numerous gatherings with family and friends, serving corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day and delicious lobster dinners during the summertime in their Bonnet Shores home.
Besides her husband Robert, whom she was married to for almost 55 years, Kathryn is survived by her son Mark, and his wife Nina, of Deltona, Florida; her daughter Beth Curran, and her husband John, of Jacksonville, Florida, and three grandchildren, Aidan, Kate, and Sarah Curran. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Robert, and his wife Joellen, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and sister, Nancy Sabados, and her husband Eugene of Shelton, Connecticut, and one niece and three nephews.
Kathryn was an avid reader who loved being a patron of all local libraries, including the Flagler County Library of Palm Coast. Kathryn cherished her family. She would thoughtfully prepare her home for visits from her two children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. She influenced her family to embrace so many family traditions.
A private family gathering for her interment will occur at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday, February 5, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Friends of the Library of Palm Coast: Friends of the Library of Flagler County, Inc. P.O. Box 353344 Palm Coast, FL 32135-3344.
