

Larry George Green began his journey home on October 1, 2018 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, Palm Coast FL. He was born the son of the late LTC (US Army, Retired) Virgil C. Green and Edna Mae (Brown) Green where he grew up in a military family moving to posts in Kansas, Texas, Virginia and Germany. He graduated from Kenmore Jr. High and Wakefield High School in Arlington VA and attended Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield MO, before returning to the Washington DC area. He began his federal career as a clerk for the Kerner Commission, A National Commission of Disorder and the Study of Civil Rights across the nation. Transferring to the Department of Defense, Larry attended basic cartographic school of the Army Management Service and assigned as a cartographic technician producing maps. He was a member of the Army Corp of Engineers Map Service star catalogue project. The catalogue provided assistance in missile targeting. Transferring to the Department of Transportation, Larry worked in the Federal Aid Division and the office of Engineering. He was involved in completing the Interstate Road system to its 42,500 mile length. He also assisted in documenting damage caused by natural disasters to the highway system. Larry was a member of the Pershing Rifle National Military Society, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Alexandria Valley of Scottish Rite Masons, a founding member of the Fairfax County REACT team , a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Virginia Jaycees where he also was a life member of the International, National, State and Local Jaycee’s chapters. Larry was elected to numerous statewide offices and recognized many times for his efforts. Larry was named an “Outstanding Young Man of America” three times. He retired on May 2, 2002 and move to Florida shortly thereafter. Larry was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Palm Coast. He is survived by his sister Jo Laree Green of Wilkesboro NC. Funeral services celebrating Larry’s Life and Legacy will be held on Friday, October 5 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 PM until the time of services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Stuart F.
