Lee was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Roxie and Oliver Suit. Lee grew up in Chattanooga and moved to Miami, Florida as a teen. Lee attended Miami Edison Senior High School. Lee met Henry Thompson Boyd, Jr. at church. Henry was a returning Korean War Army Veteran. They fell in love and married on 8/29/1953. They raised their three sons (Doug, Brad and Jeff) in Miami.
Lee took over the family’s floral business and ran Boyd’s Florist Shop in Coral Gables, FL as well as opening Bird Florist Shop in SW Miami. She was active in her local Floral Association and served as President.
Lee’s real passion was travel! She and Henry literally saw the world. They traveled via cruise ships, trains, cars and planes. They took an around the world cruise for 4 months. They also loved to take their family on special vacations. Lee traveled to 6 of the 7 continents. She zip lined in St. Lucia, she survived falling off her horse at a Dude Ranch in Wyoming, and she rode a snowmobile on top of a Glacier in Iceland at 87 years old.
Lee had a fascination for and a love of Zebras. This led to quite a collection over the years. She loved a good happy hour with White Zinfandel or a quaint tea room with Oolong Tea. She loved working puzzles with her family for years. She encouraged everyone to take a shot at helping her finish a puzzle.
Lee is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Henry. She is also predeceased by her sister Rosalind Suit and her eldest son Henry Douglas (Nancy). She is survived by her sister Ellen Bullers, and her sons Bradley Parks (Robin) and Jeffery Suit (Jennifer). She has 5 loving grandchildren – Kimberly Stonesifer (Jason), Brittany Goulart (Matthew), Alexis, Christopher and Natalie Jackson (Samuel). She is also survived by her 5 fun great grandchildren – Riley, Alanna, Ryker, Charlotte and Oliver.
