Lorine was educated in Clarendon and graduated from Clarendon Parish High School in 1928. In 1984, she emigrated to the United States and made her home in the Bronx, New York. She was employed as a nanny by Mr. David and Linda McConnaughey, lovingly helping to raise Caroline from infancy through her high school years—an experience she treasured deeply.
After retirement, Lorine lived on Gun Hill Road in the Bronx with her husband for a short time before they relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, in 1999. On February 27, 2022, she suffered the great loss of her beloved husband, Rupert Wyatt. Lorine continued to live independently until the age of 95, when her health began to decline and her devoted niece moved in to care for her during her final days.
A woman of deep faith, Lorine was an active member of the Church of God in the Bronx and later of Palm Coast United Methodist Church, where she worshiped for 22 years. She served joyfully as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir.
Lorine enjoyed cooking, baking, bike riding, and tending to her garden—always barefoot, delighting in the feel of the earth beneath her feet. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, thoughtful nature, and the love she freely shared with her family and friends.
Lorine is survived by her beloved sister; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; her adored niece, Yvonne Wyatt, whom she helped raise and her husband. Her dear friend and neighbor, John, who faithfully looked in on her.
She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
