

Mrs.Settles was born April 16, 1938 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Stanley and Mary Mashas Vidota. She was raised in Pennsylvania, and later moved to Dunellen, New Jersey, then to South Plainfield, New Jersey where she lived for 42 years. Mrs. Settles worked as a secretary for multiple local businesses in the South Plainfield area.
Mary enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe with her husband Charlie. She was very creative making greeting cards with original poems for family members on birthdays and special occasions.
Her real passion was in scrapbooking and making floral wreaths. Many of her works of art are hanging on the front doors of homes in Palm Coast. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Mary is survived by her husband of 43 years, Charles Settles, whom she married October 27, 1979.
She is also survived by two children, Ken (Dianne) LaVerne of Palm Coast, FL and Debbie Daveldek of North Bergen, New Jersey. Three grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) LaVerne of Palm Coast, Jackie (Huie) Blowe of Oviedo, FL and Eric LaVerne of Plantation, FL. and one great grandson Evan (Daniel and Jessica) LaVerne. Mary is also survived by one brother, John Vidota of Palm Coast, FL.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Widota, and three sisters, Antoinette Witcher, Frances Vidota and Helen Supenski.
Family and friends will be received Friday, June 16th from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, where services will be held at 5:00 PM.
Interment will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery, June 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
