Maryann "Marion" Smith

Maryann “Marion” Smith 87, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on December 6, 2017 at Florida Hospital Flagler. She was born on September 10, 1930 in New York City to the late Charles and Rose Grech (Vella) and raised in Astoria, Queens. She began her career as a seamstress for Bergdorf Goodman on 5th Ave in Manhattan. This was followed by a career in banking where she retired as an Officer of Long Island Savings Bank. In 1990 she moved to Palm Coast and settled into the retirement life becoming an avid tennis player and active in her parish at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where she served on the PM Guild. Her membership also included the Elk’s Club of Palm Coast. Maryann loved crafting, quilting, basket weaving. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Smith 30 years ago and her brother, Joseph Grech in 2017. Survivors include her brother, George Grech, sister in law Ellie Grech of Palm Coast; sister in law Marge Grech of Franklin Square, NY, nephews; Michael (Vickie) Grech of Farmingdale, NY, Charles (Rita) Grech of Oakdale, NY, Thomas (Janet) Grech of Malverne, NY, Robert Grech of Alexandria, VA and many more loving grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 10:00-11:00AM in the memorial room of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, FL. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00AM. Cremation to follow. Burial of her cremated remains will take place a later date at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.
