Marybeth was born and raised in Philadelphia PA and graduated from Olney High School where she met the love of her life, James Slick. They had a long and beautiful marriage which they both treasured.
Upon high school graduation, Marybeth worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia, but her true calling was being an exemplary mom and homemaker to her family.
Marybeth loved golf and was an active member of the Halifax Plantation Women’s Leagues. Always a fun competitor, she would want it noted that she achieved a rare Hole-in-one at Marsh Creek Country Club in St Augustine FL. She was passionate about Philadelphia sports teams, loved to travel, could always be found reading, and especially loved the beach. Above all, she cherished friendships and spending time with her precious family. The memories of their gatherings, always full of love and laughter, are held dear by all.
Marybeth is survived by her children, Marybeth (Michael) Boyle, James (Georgia) Slick, her grandchildren, Carly (Kevin) Maguire, Brian (Erika) Kilgore, Alexandra Slick, her great grandchildren, Rose Maguire, Michael Maguire and Jack Kilgore, her brother Jesse (Maryanne) Casselberry, nephews and nieces, Jesse (Edie) Casselberry, Michael Casselberry, Nina Casselberry and many dear friends.
Marybeth was predeceased by her parents, Eleanor and Jesse Casselberry, sister Catherine Casselberry and her husband James F Slick. Thinking of her reunion with “her Jimmy” in heaven warms our hearts.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Sophia Burton, Tashanea Masters, and Jackie Stephens for their tender and loving care as well as Gentiva Hospice nurses Heather Anderson, Tiffany Santiago and JoAnn O’Leary.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 19th, 2025, 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 230 S. Old Dixie Hwy, Bunnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her memory to Cure Alzheimer’s curealz.org in Marybeth’s name.
