Dear Mom,

I want to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible gift of love that you and Dad bestowed upon me. From the moment I was placed in your care at the tender age of 12, you raised me to become a man. I still vividly remember the day I moved out of the house to embark on my journey into adulthood. As I drove down the street, I saw you in my rearview mirror, watching me disappear into the distance.

You were a mom’s mom—overprotective, strict, sensitive, and passionate about many things. But most importantly, you were loving. It took me a while to call you Mom. Growing up and going through numerous foster homes, it took me a while to trust that this would be my forever home. However, looking back on those early days, I realize that it was you, Mom, who brought me out of darkness and into the light. Your unwavering love thawed my heart and healed my pain. I am so proud to call you Mom today.

I’ve traveled far and wide in my life, reaching incredible personal and professional milestones. But it’s the love and foundation that you and Dad have instilled in me that has kept me grounded. I will cherish every lesson learned and every moment shared with you. You will forever reside in my heart.

I love you, Mom. Thank you for loving me.

This is Jenny writing on behalf of the family of Sheila Noel. Benji and my Mom, now passed 2 years on August 27, were VERY good friends who met at A&S department store in downtown Brooklyn where they worked in the children’s department. My Mom greatly enjoyed her friendship so much that Benji often invited Mom to her home where she then met her loving, caring, remarkable husband, Larkland, and her son Vance.  Over the years Benji came to our home and brought her beautiful spirit into my life as well. She attended my wedding and along with Mom and our family brought an amazing warmth, energy to my wedding day.  We developed the greatest respect for both Benji & Larkland as we learned and saw what Fostering & Adoption should look like. They opened their home to an incredible # of children showing love, compassion, kindness, understanding, providing support and direction like we have never seen before. God bless them both for the love, respect, and care shown for all who came to their home. Her soul and spirit are now in heaven and my Mom is now reunited with her friend. May the Angels lead her as she enters Paradise.  She has indeed served and completed her PURPOSE showing us what love, humility, service, friendship, opening your home, and compassion looks like. Please accept our deepest condolences from Sheila-deceased, Pat-deceased, Ron, Rich, Jenny, John, & JB-deceased, & Noel Evelyn, my two sons who also knew her well.
