

Richard F. Oorlog 83, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on February 18, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1940 in Avon, South Dakota to the late Harold and May Oorlog. Richard worked in retail his entire working career. After his high school graduation he went to work with Gamble Skogmo and worked his way up the ranks to Vice President. The last 20 years he spent as partner in Snyder Drug Corp and retired as Vice President of Operations.
Prior to moving to Florida in 2005 he and his wife Karen lived in Minnesota on Lake Minnetonka and they spent a lot of time on his boat named “My Way” with family and friends. Once in Florida they moved to Grand Haven where he took up the game of golf. Richard was referred to as the “Commissioner” of his men’s Wednesday & Friday Golf League for many years. He had a financial mind and was always watching the stock market. Richard was known for his love of driving new cars and had a habit of coming home with a new vehicle every time he went in for an oil change.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Karen; son, Timothy and his wife Anne Oorlog; daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Mike Anderson his treasured grandson, Michael Anderson; brothers, Ron and Bob Oorlog, sister; Marce and his beloved dog, Angel who he call “Kid”. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's Memory may be made to The American Cancer Society or VITAS Hospice.
A memorial service for Richard will be held Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Palm Coast United Methodist Church, 5200 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32137.
