Robert M. Dejournett, 79, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away April 17, 2022. Bob was the beloved youngest child to his hardworking parents from small town Indiana, Bill and Alice. His older siblings, Bill Jr. and Bonnie, enjoyed many years with his wit, humor, and intelligence. From a very young age he was always building and tinkering around engines, fascinated with all things electrical. He arrived in Titusville in 1957, where he met and married his love, Annette, and raised two children. Bob worked with multiple NASA contractors, from 1963 to 1994, spanning projects from Mercury through the Space Shuttle.
An avid sports car and open-wheel racing enthusiast, Bob regularly enjoyed races at Daytona International Speedway and never missed an Indy 500. He was a dedicated statistician, grabbing team data from the first minute of qualifying, never without his binoculars, stopwatch, and clipboard. Bob loved it! He traveled often with his family, enjoyed old sci-fi movies, and had an eclectic ear musically. Bob was a brilliant mathematician and computer programmer. His mind awash with numbers, he was always working to solve something only he could perceive.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Annette; two children, Deanne and Robert; three grandchildren, Darren, Nigel, and Jolee Ann; his brother, Bill; his nephew, Mark; two nieces, Susan and Kathryn; and his cousin, Nancy. There are numerous extended family members by both blood and marriage, across several states, that were blessed to enjoy such a loving man in their lives.
He was quite a character in life, who was deeply loved by his family, and will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Ocean Cleanup or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
