

Robert Edwin Dowling, 75, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on November 29, 2023, at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. Born on April 30, 1948, in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Edwin William Dowling and Margaret Ann Bowers.
Robert graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, before enlisting in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. Robert served with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Tet offensive in 1967 and 1968. Robert’s infantry unit conducted operations in the A Shau Valley which was heavily fortified by the enemy. Having spent his whole tour in the jungle, Robert miraculously survived the ordeal and was air lifted from the field still in his fatigues just 10 days prior to coming home.
Following an honorable discharge, he pursued higher education at Montgomery College. Robert then entered the workforce, dedicating the majority of his career to Medical Sales.
A devout member of the community, Robert attended mass regularly at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He was a man of diverse interests, enjoying going out to eat, shopping, and having a deep appreciation for music, particularly rock 'n' roll. His love for the arts manifested through his skill as an artist, where he painted with acrylics on canvas.
In his memory, the family suggests donations to be made to the American Heart Association or the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), reflecting Robert's concern for health and support for fellow veterans.
Survivors include his beloved daughter, Tara, and siblings David Dowling and his wife, Maria Crespo, June and her husband John Genasky, Margo Dowling, along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Robert Edwin Dowling will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his successful career, and his vibrant passions. His impact on the lives of those around him will be cherished and remembered always. May he rest in peace.
