

Born on May 23, 1943, in Bayshore, New York, Bob was the beloved son of the late Louis and Margaret Thierwechter. He graduated from Islip High School in 1961. Early in his career, he worked at Telepaving and was proud to have contributed to the construction of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. In 1964, he began a long and fulfilling career with New York Telephone, where he remained until his retirement.
After retiring, Bob and his wife Jackie moved to Palm Coast, where he embraced a well-earned life of leisure and community. He enjoyed RC flying, fishing, boating, bowling, biking, and cruising. He was a longtime member of St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church, the former Anchor Boat Club, and the RAM's RC Flying Club where he was President for 20 years. In recognition of his years of leadership and dedication to the organization the flying field was re-named "Bob Thierwechter RC Flying Field" in his honor.
Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, warm sense of humor, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. He deeply valued his friends and family and brought kindness and laughter wherever he went.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Jackie Thierwechter of Palm Coast; their daughter, Lyn, and her husband Chip Fontinell of Phoenix, Arizona; son, Bob Thierwechter of Bayshore, New York; grandchildren, Samantha Fearse of Edison, New Jersey, Casandra Young of Phoenix, Arizona, Stephany and Matt Brust of Glendale Arizona, Frank Fontinell of Phoenix, Arizona, Danielle Thierwechter of Bayshore, New York, Dylan Thierwechter of Bayshore, New York and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church, located at 303 Palm Coast Parkway NE, Palm Coast, Florida, 32137. The service is scheduled for October 25, 2025, at 11:00 am.
