Roy was born on March 19, 1957, in High Point, North Carolina, to the late Roy Sr. and Susie A. Gray Dixon. He spent his formative years in High Point, where he attended Andrews High School and distinguished himself both academically and athletically.
Following his passion for baseball, Roy pursued higher education at N.C. State on an athletic scholarship. It was during his time at university that he met the love of his life, Ginger. Roy excelled in his studies and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Engineering from N.C. State's prestigious Furniture Manufacturing and Management Program.
A talented athlete, Roy's prowess on the baseball field was remarkable. He played centerfield for the N.C. State baseball team from 1975 to 1978, assuming the role of team captain in his final year. Roy's contributions were pivotal to the team's success, securing conference championships in 1975 and earning All-Conference distinctions, including first team All-Conference and second team All-American honors during his senior year. Following graduation, Roy pursued his passion professionally, playing minor league baseball for the Detroit Tigers.
Later in his career, Roy relocated to Florida with his beloved wife, Ginger, where he managed a Tri-Pac cabinet factory in Lakeland FL. As his career evolved, Roy transitioned into a sales role and eventually established his own company, StoneWood Sales, in 2006, located in Bunnell. Specializing in custom cabinetry and countertops, Roy's business flourished, serving clients locally and developers across the Southeastern United States.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Roy found joy in various leisure activities, including gardening, fishing, and golfing. He cherished moments spent with friends and family, often hosting gatherings at the Tiki bar he built in his backyard. Roy's commitment to his community was evident through his involvement in coaching little league softball and baseball teams, his support of Habitat for Humanity, and his active participation in the Homebuilders Association.
Roy leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ginger; his loving mother, Susie; his cherished daughter, Lauren Dixon; and his beloved sons, Skyler (Shelby) Dixon and Alex (Ashton) Dixon, and his loving brother, Rhon Dixon. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Roy Sr.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, June 8th, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, where a service celebrating Roy's life will commence at 4:00 PM.
