

Seconia Readous Brown Reid was born on March 22, 1940 in Homewood, Alabama, to Walter P. Brown and Odessa Readous Brown. Seconia departed this life of December 26, 2023 in Palm Coast. She attended elementary school in Manhattan, New York. Seconia graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, New York. She worked at Lord and Taylor department store for many years. One May 9, 1960 she married John Reid. They have been devoted to each other for 63 years. This union produced two children, Leslie and Rodney. Seconia worked for the Board of Education while attending La Guardia College. She retired from the Board of Education after 25 years of service. In 2005 Seconia and John moved to Palm Coast to get away from the cold weather and snow of New York. Seconia was an avid and devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Belle Terre Parkway. She was a member of the Black Catholic Guild at the church and was also a greeter. She is also a Silver Lifetime member of the AACS and a supporter of the NAACP of Palm Coast, FL. Seconia was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, New York Chapter. She also enjoyed quilting, bowling, playing dominos with her friends, traveling the world. She enjoyed watching football and was a New York Jets fan. Seconia was known for her squash casserole, zucchini bread, and most of all her famous eggnog and her beautiful smile.
Seconia is survived by her husband, John. Her children, Leslie and Rodney. Two sisters, Carol and Althea Brown. Two grandchildren, Joseph and Tiffany, and two great-grandchildren, Iziaha and Marley Payne. She is also survived by brother-in laws, Willie (Retana), Thomas (Barbara), Mario (Pat), James (Kay). Sister-in-law, Alpine James and Gilda Phifer. Seconia is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South in Flagler Beach. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. Entombment will follow at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
