

Theresa Ann Rentz, of Ormond Beach, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on March 24, 2025 at the age of 88. Her devoted husband Richard predeceased her on February 19, 2023. Her only sibling and older brother, William Edwin Tate, Sr. of Eddington, Maine died June 18, 2008.
Theresa was born September 22, 1936 in Bangor, Maine to Edwin Alonzo Tate and Cora Mary Dean and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Orono, Maine in 1954. In June 1955, she graduated from Husson College where she was active in Pi Rho Zeta Sorority. In July 1955, Theresa moved to Washington, D.C. to begin work as a secretary for the Central Intelligence Agency. In 1958, she was assigned to Paris, France and spoke fondly of this assignment throughout her life. Through work, she met her beloved husband, Richard. In April 1959, Theresa and Richard married in Frankfurt, Germany – the first of their many overseas postings around the world, which included Germany, Taiwan, Turkey, Philippines, India, and Australia. During her lifetime, she traveled to 39 different countries on six continents. In January 1980, Theresa and her family moved to Culpeper, Virginia where they lived until 1992. Theresa and Richard then retired to Florida where they enjoyed their golden years.
Theresa was a devout Catholic who enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and cherished visits from family and friends. Affectionately known as "Oma" by her family, she was the loving wife of Richard for 63 years. She is survived by her four children, Michael (Anita) Rentz, Anne Marie (Tony) Dowdy, Richard (Elena) Rentz, and Robert (Stephanie) Rentz, and six grandchildren, Stephanie, Katherine, Caroline, Lucas, Richard, and Marina. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 89 St. Mary’s Place, Bunnell, Florida, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
