

TORRES, Elvira “Vera” – Age 92, of Flint went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at MediLodge of Montrose. Mrs. Torres was born May 24, 1919 in Tyler, Texas the daughter of Michael and Maryann Padilla. She was a member of our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies Alter Society. Vera attended Genesys Adult Day Care and enjoyed bingo, crocheting and sewing. Surviving are her children, Amelia Urbeck, Sonny (Linda) Torres, John (Chris) Torres; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; brother, Robert Padilla; sister, Lupe Lucas; daughter-in-law, Denise Eggert; 2 nephews. Mrs. Torres was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Torres, daughter Virginia Perry, son, Ricardo Torres, brother, Michael Padilla and granddaughter, Dena May. The family would like to thank the staff, volunteers, and friends at Genesys Adult Day Care and the nurses and aides in Hall 100 at MediLodge for their wonderful care and support. The family would also like to thank granddaughter, Vickey and her husband Tim for all their love and care throughout the years. Friends may visit the family from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reigle Funeral Home. A Rosary/Scripture Service will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Father Cecilio Reyna will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s of Michigan or the Diabetes Foundation.
