

HEMMES, James Lee – age 68, passed away on January 24, 2017 in Flushing, Michigan. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1 PM at Reigle Funeral Home – 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 2 PM – 8PM and Friday from 11 AM – 1 PM. Interment will take place at West Moddersville Cemetery in Falmouth, MI. James was born on July 5, 1948 in Cadillac, Michigan to parents Marvin and Earlene Dowland. James served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. He worked for AC 32 years. James was a man full of love and thoughtfulness. He loved his family deeply, and the memories he made with them. James was a man of many talents. He loved to fish, hunt, and work in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed sharing his vegetables with family and friends, most of all his canned hot peppers. James was a great card player, chess player, and board game player. While he was in the military he was the champion chess player. James was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. James is survived by his wife, Cindy; mother, Earlene Hemmes; children: Krista Hemmes, James (Valerie) Hemmes, Matthew (Jennifer) Hemmes, Cassandra Hemmes; step-children: Shannon (Erik) Kaiser, Sandy (Joe) Johnson, Robert (Sheri) Gilmore; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Tammy (Curt) Callahan; brother, Rodger Hemmes; nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Hemmes, brothers, Danny Hemmes and Robert Hemmes. Arrangements under the direction of Reigle Funeral Home/Sunset Chapel, Flushing, MI.
