

WATTS, John E. – of Flushing, age 73, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 at Faith Missionary Church, 1327 N. Elms Road, with Pastor Steve Hittle officiating. Burial follows at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation 1 – 8 p.m. Sunday at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Road and at church from noon Monday until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or the Thin Blue Line of Michigan. Mr. Watts was born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on January 22, 1938 and moved to Valparaiso, Indiana. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1956 to 1959 as a helicopter mechanic. After his military service he attended Bible college in Michigan where he married his first wife, Patricia Hauer, who preceded him in death in 1992. Mr. Watts was employed as a machine repairman at Chevrolet Manufacturing, where he was known as “Round John”, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 659. John spent the last 18 years with his second wife and best friend, Glenda (Jackson). He loved his entire family and enjoyed attending church, singing and going fishing. Surviving are: wife, Glenda (Jackson) Watts; children, Sheryl Watts and husband Paul Staley, John Watts, Jr., Christopher Matthew Watts and wife Jennifer, Regina Bowman, Renee Jackson and Becky Jackson,; grandchildren, Samantha Durant, Brooke Hoag, Hadley Watts, Madison Watts, Jackson Watts, Heidi and Jason Hanel, Mandy and Josh Hanel, and Jared Staley; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lewis and Mary Watts, William and Gayle Watts; sister-in-law, Dona Watts; and nieces and nephews. Mr. Watts was preceded in death by: first wife, Patricia Watts; son, James Allen Watts; mother, Ida Watts; brothers, Ralph and Dan; and sister, Edith.
