

Marvin D. Stephenson, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. He was born on November 12, 1930 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to parents Oscar and Ella (Habedank) Stephenson. From 1948 until 1952, Marvin proudly served as a Radio Cryptographer in the Army Air Force during the Berlin Airlift. Marvin was very involved in many different sports throughout his lifetime: hunting, fishing, baseball, softball, and hockey. He played baseball while in the service, and even tried out for the Washington Senators professional baseball team. He was a part of AA Fastpitch both as a player and a sponsor. Marvin was also inducted into the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. In addition to his success in sports, Marvin enjoyed traveling with his wife Mary who precedes him death. He was also a member of Flushing Presbyterian Church and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Marvin will be lovingly remembered by his two sons: Brad (Colleen) Stephenson and Scott (Sherri) Stephenson; grandchildren: Mackenzie, Garrett, Brock, Joshua, Ava, Shane, Molly, Allie, and Easton; six great grandchildren; siblings: Darlene, Barbara, and Dale; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Mary Stephenson; son, Craig Stephenson; siblings: Bob, Roger, Dolores, and Bud. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Flushing Presbyterian Church, 5010 N. McKinley Rd., Flushing, with Pastor Teresa Peterson officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Marvin’s name.
