Christopher J. McManus

Chris McManus (Papa), passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at his home in Floral Park, NY. He was born on January 07, 1933 in Manhattan, NY to Christy and Marian McManus.

Chris grew up in Queens, NY. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in Manhattan in 1950. After high school he joined the US Navy, where he served for four years. He then began work for Grumman Aviation and later worked in the commercial lighting business until he was 75 years old.

Chris married Barbara in 1955 in Woodside, NY and had three loving children.

Chris was a member of St. Sabastion's Church in Woodside and Our Lady of Victory in Floral Park and was very involved with their CYO programs coaching basketball and baseball. He loved horse racing, participating as an owner and a fan for many years. He also loved gardening, the NY Yankees, NY Giants and spending time with his grandchildren.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents Christopher (Christy) and Marian; his sister Frances (Sissy); and his wife Barbara.

Chris is survived by his sons Christy and Martin, and his daughter Maureen, also daughter-in-law Barbara, and son-in-law Jimmy; his grandchildren Laura (husband Anthony), Colin (wife Michelle), Barbara, Emily, and Michaela, his great-grandchild Tony; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other friends and relatives.
